Hi folks,
I have a friend who is selling his 1986 Vanagon GL. Please direct ALL
inquiries directly to him at camden74@hotmail.com. The vehicle is located
currently in Houston, Texas. Buyer must come get the vehicle. Asking
price is $3800.
You can see very detailed pictures of the van at THIS URL:

Here's the description of the van:
1986 VW Vanagon GL 157k miles Exterior: Silver/Blue metallic paint w/Grey
accents Interior: Dark blue/silver accents Original-style "VW" Vanagon
hubcaps/steel wheels (14")2.1 Liter fuel-injected four-cylinder engine
Power steering, Power mirrors, Power brakes, tachometer, AM/FM/CD
"Blaupunkt" in-dash CD player w/removeable faceplate. Custom-made
black-material dash cover (*NO* cracks in dash!!!) Aftermarket
between-seat storage bin/cup holder/organizer(inbetween two front seats),
in matching color/accents. Original blue/grey seats (two front buckets, 2
person middlebench; removeable, rear 3-person fold-down bench). Rear seat
folds to make bed/storage area. Front/rear heating, all air vents
functional, factory a/cequipped (needs new a/c clutch & compressor - was
working when unit clutch/compressor froze). Engine does NOT blow anysmoke
nor leak any oil. I am the 3rd owner. Originally from New Mexico (owner
owned car for approx. 8 years). 2nd owner here in Houston, Texas has owned
for last 6 years. Both owners used correct 20W50 engine oil. Last ownerhas
had brake job performed (brake lines flushed, newpads as necessary).
Tires in good shape (1 will needreplacing in approx. 12K miles). All
levers, knobs, switches, electric fans, brakes, air
vents/ventilationsystems, radio works (except A/C). Front steering rackwas
replaced by previous owner (as was alternator).I have checked all brakes,
all fluids, have performednecessary oil changes & have changed oil sending
unit.Accidents? One minor "fender-bender" on right-rearquarter panel.
This (previous owner) has been repairedand repainted - I can not tell
damage has been done. What work would need to be done to it? 1) a/c
repairand/or replacement (if you want that), 2) tint the windows to cool
it off? 3) new tires? 4) repaint thetop (one portion of the roof near the
left reartire is fading/clearcoat). Because of the extensivemaintenance
the previous VW-lovers/owners have performed, including myself, the van
drives VERY well - straightdown the road and handles beautifully. The
suspensionis strong, and rides very well. Because of the abovestatistics
on this van, I have taken it to three differentVW events in the Houston
area and have entered it in theshows because of how clean, straight &
well-running this VW is.
