There are several along Hwy 1 south of Big Sur, but this time of year, they are bound to be packed. If you look carefully, you will see some dirt roads that head inland from the Big Sur coast (actually a ways south of Big Sur) toward "Naciemento Fergueson Road". Up off of these dirt roads are some pretty good primitive (read: non-official, no "camp-nazis", no fees, no amenities-type spots under the stars). I wish I could be more specific, but place names to look for are Plaskett Creek (a good camp site there, BTW), Silver Peak, Gorda, etc. The dirt roads will show up on a Delorme recreational map, I am sure (or even some AAA maps of the Big Sur Coast) Have a great time.
