Our 84 Westfalia gets 10L per 100km - I'll let you do the conversion here
to get MPG:
The stats of the van to get this economy
Engine 1986 Jetta GLI 1.8L 8V with 200,000+ km
CO 0.5%
Fuel Petro Canada 87 Octane
Idle 950 rpm
Timing 3 BTDC at idle, 28 BTDC at 4500 RPM
Injection CIS
Compression Ratio 10:1
Engine speed 110 to 115 km/h
Tires 195/75R14 at 40PSI fron and 48PSI rear
We usually try to keep the engine in the 3800 to 4000 rpm range - we find
it runs cooler (mid way between the cold line and the LED) that if we run
it at 3200 RPM (just below the LED).
