I commented recently that a large number of folks contemplating an engine swap probably don't have properly running vans. I installed a used engine in mine a couple years ago, complete with exhaust. It ran like a dog. One of the more basic changes I did (while on the road), was to remove the innards of the converter (it had imploded on itself) and put spacers between the cat and the muffler (which was full of converter innards) I realized a 15 - 20 mph top speed increase, especially in a headwind.
