Hello everybody!

Well, a young three years into my first Vanagon, its getting better and better all the time. Finally able to worry about things like cosmetics (Going to do that window chrome soon!) and take care of little annoyances.

The ones I'm currently working on are as follows:

I have an 87, Wolfsburg, automatic... at any decent speed the button that locks the shift lever into place starts to rattle REALLY loudly. I've just been stuffing sections of the cover of my now completely beat up (and well traveled) road atlas in the crack... a solution that works until it vibrates free again. Is there a missing gasket for this or something else anyone's done to get rid of the rattle?

Second: My speedometer needs some rebuilding or something... I have taken it apart, pushed the row of gears back into line again, but every time I reinstall the speedometer, it works its way back out of sync within the first .1 mile... (Kinda cool, three years, MANY long trips and a daily driver, and the van hasn't aged a single bit!! RIGHT...) anyway, tips or pointers? I'm guessing its a little dificult to get a new one, since that would make it easy for everyone to reset the mileage when its time to sell...

Hrm. Well, thats all for now! Thanks everyone ;)

Eric Nettles...
