Subject: tranny rebuild
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Just got back from a long weekend with my '85 vanagon with a tranny rebuild. Daryl at AA Transaxle did the job and I consider myself very luck to have found him. Just my luck, he's in my neighborhood...sort of...I had the clutch replaced at the same time, of course, and asked him to install on of those "taller." 4th gears. I love the new 4th gear. At 3400rpm, I'm going 60, and at 3600, I'm at 70. I am not quite sure yet if the gas mileage is better than before, but the plus that I see is that the engine is running easier. I would recommend AA Transaxle to everyone even if you need to ship your tranny to him because after meeting and talking with him, I felt like I trust his work and integrity. Years back, I did most of my own work on my vehicles and now that I don't want to do that any more, I look for a mechanic that will answer all of my questions and not BS any of the answers. Daryl is all of that. It's great to have this list to help us weed out all of the shady characters in the automotive business and recommend those who make us happy.
