Your mechanic is a numbskull. Find a new mechanic.

VW oil pumps (the only type I can speak authoritatively about) are
notorious for *at least* weeping a bit. It is virtually impossible however
(based on the way the VW pump is designed) for it to do much more than drip
(i.e. it would have to have a gaping hole in order to do more).

Launch this goof, and take it to someone who doesn't have recto-cranial
inversion.

My mechanic say's Oil pumps can't leak slow because of the pressure behind
it and would leak profusely in nature.
I beg to differ because that seems to be where I'm losing oil from and if
its not from the oil
pump I'm stump after cleaning off and watching it leak from the edge of the
square plate where the oil pump is.
Any help?
