It's a VW thing -- like only one turn signal indicator light (it is zee user's rezponzibility to know vich turn zignal he hass applied) and the starter key that only turns once (zee user is too ztupid not to start zee engine ven it is already running). In this case it is the user's responsibility to turn off the radio as part of the ordinary leaving-the-vehicle checklist. It's on page two, right after the landing gear checks and disarming the ejection seat. [We won't even start on the (entirely logical, given a particular premise) heater controls.]

Anyway, they make up for it by putting the horn on a switched circuit, so it won't accidentally go off in the middle of the night and scare passers-by...

It all kinda reminds me of my old Saab 96 (could lock doors from inside so they couldn't be opened with key, all controls operable with mittens on, stuff like that...
