All you who have responded has been great and lots more info. I will save
your E-addresses and update info as I work on this project this winter. I
prefer to weld and jig in the winter (nice way to keep warm) I will also
post to the lists.
Unfortunatley I don't feel the front will handle a winch (without
modifications to YOUR front end) as the stock bolts are quite small. But I
also haven't tried to remove one with a 6000# winch yet. we'll have to wait
and see how the protos hold up. But the rear looks promising.

 thanks tim looks similar to my ideas, but I like to fill the gaps with
aluminum diamond plate. the 2 "hitch is a standard idea for front and rear
on all my bumpers, even my baja bug. (nothin erks me more than
non-functional bumpers a tricycle can dent.)
 BTW those rims are the same I am using on my baja, running vanagon bearing
carriers and rear disc brakes.

But I want it to be supported from the bumper. I don't wanna alter the body
that cannot be reversed. who knows some day these may be classics and worth
more with a cheesy crome bumper that couldn't stop a red flyer wagon.

I'm not sure what you have planned in the way of bumpers, but what
you've said sounds good. BTW, a receiver hitch on the rear would be a
must (not so much for towing, but for hitch bike racks and platforms
and the like...).
