This is what I used to re-cover my sliding door panel. There are many choices Colors, patterns, including one that looks just like the basketweave vinyl that's peeling off. It is easy to work with (OK, PRETTY easy to work with). It is very durable - fabric will likely tear while you're hauling stuff for your neighbor. And it's VERY easy to keep clean. Good luck whatever you decide! Doug 84 Westy, 84K
