I have been cracking up over this Friday's "humor."You see, I as a few other Vanagon Listmembers are in the mildest category for craziness: one Vanagon . I needed to laugh, because I have my own sad story to deal with. I was crazy enough to take a job without asking for a certain amount for my work. I am being robbed for my 2 1/2 months labor at a local body shop where I completely reassembled from the front seats forward everything in the engine 1996 Golf GTI(VR6) The wires, brakes, ABS, Airbags, dash, engine, and everything else that pertains to the engine compartment. It was a big challenge, and a lot of work. The car was sold for 12,000. I talked to the owner today, and he pulled every excuse out of the book he could to avoid paying me a mere 2,000 dollars my labor. He had said the job didn't have a deadline when it began, and today he told me that he never hired me and I was not his employee. Then he got out the book that shows how much time is allowed on each task. He even blamed me for a couple mistakes that I made (and that he made) because he failed to supervise, as if this is reason enough to forfeit my wages.

I tried to work out a deal, but he refused. He told me that he thought I was just doing it to get experience-now that's what a crazy man looks like. I have been trying to collect from him for two years, so today I gave the ultimatum-court. I will still respond to any reasonable offers he may make to settle, as I don't like court either. But then this is what the court is for.

I don't want to start another thread as the Melissa saga is currently plenty for the list. And though I found humor in these posts this Friday funny night, I feel the frustration along with the rest of you on these very important matters. SO I finally told you the ugly truth. I didn't want to mention it before because it lacked Vanagon content, but as you can see I have found ways to include "Vanagon ." I hope that Melissa's, Melvin's, Daniel's and my case will be resolved fairly as we live in this good country with justice and liberty for all. Hold up the torch!

Robert
