I recently discovered a surface cleaner Bar Keepers Friend and a spot remover Just 'n Time that are both made by the same company. One or both of these might help clean the headliner. You can read about them and order them at http://www.barkeepersfriend.com/products.htm. I have no association with the company or the products other than being a satisfied (and reordering) customer. My "testimonial story" is that I ordered the "6-pack" of Just 'N Time spot remover about 3 weeks ago. My wife has already (happily) used all 6 bottles and I'm supposed to be ordering more instead of reading the Vanagon list...
