Subject: Trying to make a decision
Content-Type: text/plain

Hello, I haven't written to much directly to the list, but am a lurker, responding directly to posters. Question I am currently trying to decide on - I own an '85 Westy, with an automatic transmission, and am looking to convert to manual. I purchased this bus from my dad, who was the original purchaser of this bus, from Germany, when he was in the military there. Since he became disabled, he had to purchase an automatic transmission vehicle. Since then, I have purchased it from him and just prefer to have a manual. I have since picked up all the necessary parts to convert over to a manual transmission, and am still having second thoughts. I read from other owners with automatic transmissions, that they are more reliable than the manual. I have not had a single ounce of trouble with this transmission, and religiously change the filter & fluids every year, whether it needs it or not. I have also considered purchasing one of the TIICO 2.0 Golf engine conversation kits, and hear good things with the automatic still in, on this installation. So perhaps I could get a little input on this move. I do like things to be original, and keeping the automatic in would be the way to go. But I really like a manual - decisions, decisions. My other question is: If I do change this over to a manual - anyone in need of an excellent running automatic transmission? Email me with your thoughts and comments - appreciate all your responses and suggestions.
