Subject: wierd vanagon acessory.....
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

not to start another freakin retarted cupholder thread, but i saw today what i believe has got to be one of the "rarest of the rare" as far as original factory vw acessories (started with a "ZVW" part number) made for the vw vanagon. today i saw a '85 westy that had a cupholder/nick nack tray/fold out tabletop off of the DASH.... no, it wasnt homemade. or aftermarket. it was genuine VW..molded especially for the contours of the vanagon dash. it looked totally stock. it was brown molded plastic, with the same texturized finish as the other rare dual cupholder thing that some of you have seen that fits over the ashtray, that vw offered for the early vanagons.. (that particular cupholder is actually pictured in your vanagon owners manual, in the "acessories" insert in the manual) but this acessory i saw today, ive never seen before. no pics anywhere or nothing. This thing covered the WHOLE dash, from the speedo cluster shroud, all the way to the right (passenger) side of the dash. the part over the ashtray, had a few cupholder recessed holes in it, and a few little slots and nick nack tray, and the part to the right of that, over the area where on the '85 up vans there's that little molded-into-the-dash- "tray" there was a fold out tabletop!! yes..it flipped back towards you, kind of like an airline seatback traytable. then flipped back up onto the dash when not in use. ive never seen anything like this. and ive seen a bunch of wacky accessories.. anyone else ever seen one of these???? and yes, it was definately a vw acessory... chris
