Subject: 87 Transmission problem
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

The 4-speed transmission on my 87 Westy is popping out of 4th gear when under load. All the other gears are OK. My mechanic says I need a transmission overhaul. Assuming he's right -

1) How many hours of labor is reasonable for pulling the tranny? 2) What's a reasonable price for a rebuilt tranny? 3) Should I consider replacing the 4-speed with a 5-speed (if its an option)?

Thanks in advance for any info/advice!!
