Subject: [wetwesties] Retiring Woodstock
We have a seldom used, much abused (previous owner) 69 Westie named
Woodstock that is coming home tomorrow from Hat Island (Puget Sound). It's
not worth the effort to me, mostly because of time & energy, to restore her
to road warrior status from her present state of road weary. so...I'm going
to sell it lock, stock & barrel, or part it out & junk it by next Thursday.
I'm not heartless, although typing this email makes me feel that way! :-(
a few details: (I will have more after a thorough physical tomorrow)
1600cc dual port engine. probably not original
decent, but not great body; a couple of rust spots
broken driver's vent window
red, with grossly painted top to "match"
ok canvas, but some mildew around bottom
brakes iffy
It's been on Hat for 10 years & probably has been driven 30 miles in that
time. The engine is strong, but I couldn't vouch for it being in great
shape (although it might be).
I believe to get it road ready, as much as $1k needs to be put into it.
A friend of ours (long time VW mechanic) is going to look it over tomorrow.
He gets right of first refusal, altho' I get the same on his offer. I
expect he will try to keep me around $400-500.
Anyone who would seriously be interested in looking Woodstock over and
taking it off our hands in this timeframe, and thinks it's worth $500 or
more can contact me via email today, or at home this weekend (425.788.2362)
or cell 425.876.8358. (Please don't call me today during working hours.
thanks)
if I'm nuts for thinking it's worth this much, I can handle that type of
feedback too.
...but, if anyone serious about restoring a good ole' bus wants to take a
gander, you have to let me know right away.
regards,
