Andy: Replacing all the plastic bits down there is a very easy job - takes about 1/2 hour even if you are very thorough and slow. :-) I have a list of all the parts needed at home, which I can get for you tonight if you want them (make it easier to order) From the dealer, all the parts cost me about $50, including the springs and metal bits.
