Hi Folks, I guess I wasn't to clear on why I was finding it difficult removing the side curtains. There is a rather heavy looking shelf thingy made of pressed wood and it runs from the end of the window to the closet. The metal runner that the curtains run on is screwed to the side behind this shelf. There is about an inch between the side and the shelf, so I can't see how to unscrew it without taking apart this shelf. I guess I'll just bring in a bucket and wash the darn things as they hang. thanks anyway! As for vanagons for sale I've noticed a few on craigslist.com, infact that's where I found my westy.
