Daniel; Temperature has nothing to do with it (directly), the cap works on pressure. They have been known to go bad so just replace it. If nothing else you will have a spare. If you really wanted to do the preventative maintenance thing replace the reservoir also. It comes with a new cap. The reservoirs fail by developing cracks. New tanks are translucent, aged units are opaque with white patches that are hard and brittle. I would spring for a new coolant level sensor, another failure item. Well I better stop here, like usual, my projects spiral out of control. #%-\ Drive Safely & Good Luck Ken Lewis <Kernersville,NC> 86 VW crewcab;60 356B Coupe -------------------------------------------------- On Mon, 7 Aug 2000 10:28:45 -0700 Daniel Schmitz <djs@gene.com> writes: >Re my cooling system problems: > >Brought the van to operating temp, let it run for awhile, looked >everywhere for leaks, saw none.
