I have an off road/sport fishing permit to drive my Syncro on the beach at Island Beach, right by Barnegat Light, NJ. To get a permit, one must have 4WD and a bunch of essentials like tow strap, shovel, etc. Last time I went, back in July, one of the Park Rangers crusing the sand stopped by my Westy and asked if I had done a 4WD conversion. I told him about my Syncro and he told me about some guy who used to get a season permit to drive his late 60’s loaf on the beach and although he did not have 4WD, he had been doing so for years and was grandfathered in. The Ranger said he never got stuck. He also said that the nearby Mobil station does a tidy business fetching stuck SUV’s off the beach in the summer time. Raúl Cisneros 87 Syncro Westy 86 Syncro GL |
