Umm.. Maybe I'm missing something - but this is all handled in the stock configuration in a Syncro. AFAIK you get:

Air intake snorkel w/ heavy particle & water separator (i.e. insects and gravel) Clutch breather tube Transaxle breather tube Front diff breather tube "Water proof" bearings and CV joints

(Per, Dr. Woitok - am I missing anything?)

This all results in a published fording depth of 12", but I am confident that it is good to the bottoms of the door sills (where you start taking on water).

You may be best off just grabbing the air intake snorkel from a wrecked Syncro (if you can find one). The rest would probably be difficult to retrofit.
