Donna,

You already have one of the best tires available on your van. You did get the 6 ply rated ones (C-rated), right? I have a set, actually my second set, on a Syncro, and they work wonderfully in all conditions, snow, rain, mud and muck. Has the suspension been aligned on your van recently? Also, 40 psi is too much in the front, try setting the pressures closer to the specs for the optional size tires (205/70-14, your '84 may not have this sticker) which is 30 front, 40 rear. The 40 and 45 psi ratings I believe are the specs for the OE 185-14s. I think with proper alignment and pressures you will love the tires! Good luck!
