Subject:      where to find accelerator cable fast N.NJ.

If anyone has an idea where I might find a new accelerator cable for 1983.5
watercooled Westy with a 4 speed in Northern New Jersey area tomorrow, which
is Saturday, please let me know.


I'll check the local VW dealer, Trend in Rockaway in the a.m. since they
closed for the night. I'm guessing they won't have it in stock. RPM Auto
parts in Netcong can't get one till Monday afternoon. The Bus Depot is out of
stock on this part and it would be about a week. Fast German in CA can get me
one for about $40 plus $35 for overnight shipping but again it wouldn't show
till Monday. Parts Place said I should just have the bus towed to them and
they'll give me $200 for scrap.


If anyone from this area knows a parts place or a well-stocked dealer that I
might try in the morning please let me know. I'm willing to drive a bit to
get the part as the lack of it is holding me up leaving for a vacation. And
I'd like to get going ASAP.
