David. What I am trying to get across is that the Vanagon was originally equipted with an air-cooled Type4 2.0L eng. From ' 79.5 to ' 83.5 model years. Your original statement was that the person who posted the first inquiry had, to paraphrase " balls, to be asking the Vanagon List about the purchase of an air-cooled..." When in fact the original Vanagons were air-cooled. Just wondering if you knew that our beloved little beasties started out with an air-cooled heart, and the end result (2.1L) was a direct desendant of the 25hp air-cooled Type1.
