<< Yes. In the city of Minneapolis as part of the urban cleanup they can, and

do, tag and tow "inoperable" ( those under repair for more then a week) and

abandoned vehicles. You can work on your own cars as long as you keep them

in a garage. My single car garage was built in 1923, T Model Fords were

smaller then Vanagons, so it doesn't fit inside. And I went out of town

before I could finish. >>

They tried to pull that on a friend of mine (in NY) who had a tag-less splitty in his driveway that his neighbors didn't like the looks of. When he got hassled by the local authorities, he got it registered as a "farm" vehicle and was issued these limited use "farm" plates and since it was now legally (and cheaply) tagged, his problems were over. Different states have different laws and this was a few years ago... but the point is loopholes can be found! ie: carcover maybe? keith

BTW, how much does it have to move on a daily basis to prove to the authorities that it is being used? 1 inch? 1 foot? one end of the driveway to the other? do they feel the engine to see if it's warm? can people in your town go on vacation for more than a week with out having to hire a "car mover" like people in NYC would hire a dog walker??? The more I think about this, the more outrageous and police-state-like it sounds!!!! keith 87 vanagon 85 diesel golf 79 loaf 93 saturn (wife's car) (and they all live in my driveway!)
