Subject: Engine idle races in traffic
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hello Volks The last few times I have been stuck inn traffic in the hot weather in my "90 Westy, the idle rises to 3000+ rpm. When I start to move again for a while, the idle drops back down to normal (900-1000 RPM). The temp gauge doesn't indicate overheating so I assume the problem is related to the ambient temperature in the engine compartment. Is this a common symptom of a known problem? I suspect the idle stabilizer valve, idle stabilizer control or possibly the T2 sender.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Gary
