I haven't owned my '87 Westfalia long enough yet to have used the optional "air brake" that is installed on the roof. To lessen the impact on drag, if one's camper is equipped with the three-window poptop canvas, having all windows unzipped at speed would give new meaning to "flow-through ventilation."
