Ss you did, I had my mechanic install new 508, expansion valve and drier.
He first charged with 3 cans Freeze 12. A few weeks later, we went to 4,
and 10 days ago 5. It took 5 to get the compressor noise down. I am
getting 50F temps in the morning when outside air is 80-85F.
I put same A/C check thermometer in the front A/C ducts on my '98 Pontiac
Montana. Temp got down to 45F; however, fan moves much more air than on my
Vanagon.
I think that the only room now left for improvement is to work on the
electrical to get much higher fan speed. Do you know how to check for
proper fan speed.
