Should still work while the engine is running - check the fuse behind the drivers seat on the wall. One fuse runs the heater element in the fridge, the other runs the LED panel, overhead light, and water pump.

The Bus Depot is selling a little Hella relay and wiring kit (with instructions) that should be helpful for hooking up the battery. AS to the choice of battery, that is a matter of intense debate. (though the Optima is a popular choice)

Don't spray them with high pressure water and you should be fine. :-)
