Subject: Fuel Injectors
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi Volks,

While nosing around in the engine compartment today I was a little concerned over the condition of the rubber leads to the fuel injectors. They are looking a little dry with some minor cracking - very minor. It looks like you can't replace just the rubber lead and the injectors are $90 to $116 EACH. I was talking to one parts guy and he said that if they are not leaking or "weeping" that I should be OK - people run 'em like that sometimes. This doesn't seem like sound advice to me, being that one set of injectors is positioned directly above some hot exhaust pipes and the other set is over one of the heads. Gas + heat = BOOM.

Has anyone had any experience with these rubber leads on the injectors? How long might I expect them to last in a slightly dry state with minor cracking - no leaking? Dare I venture out on my cross country trip without replacing them?

Peace - donna '84 Westy (Pepe)
