Dear List members,

Today is a very sad day in the life of a 1980 vanagon camper and it's owner. Yesterday(8/11) my van was picked up from the shot after a linkage repair. IT ran ok. MY first gear had been gone for sometime now. I drove to hillsboro, Or from portland, or. I got about 3/4 of the way, went up a offramp, and into a parking lot where she now sits. Her clutch, gearbox, and tranny all shot. She's worth about $1,100 and it would probably cost well over 2,000 to fix her. I had to make the choice today to either part her out or to trade her in for another VW. It was the hardest desicion for a man to make about his beloved vanagon. Of course throughout the day at work alot of camper vw's pulled into the parking lot to shop where i work(BEST BUY, I'm security). I cried as we pulled away from her after she broke down. But i will always have the memories and the will to own another just like her or maybe even her again. I am going to hopefully finance a jetta, cabrio, or passat, but it will be an automatic, cause a man who lives on his own and struggling with money can't afford the clutch and it's problems. I will hopefully always own a vw. If anyone has any ideas or is willing to buy her for around 800-1000(or best offer) please do so, by e-mail @ either vwlights@aol.com, or cherrydad@yahoo.com

specs of the van: 196,000miles all new carpet except for a stain by the fridge(maybe be able to get it out with resolve CD stereo with speakers(i added two more in the back two cabinet doors. Bed, poptop, stove, fridge(newly cleaned), sink, water tank, table, propane, well kept up.

thanks, Troy

P.s. i love you betty blue( 1980 Vanagon Camper)
