I have this problem with SMALL ie 1.8, 2.0 diesels (2.8 Skylines and 3.4 LandCruisers don't suffer from it). Every Corona or Corolla diesel I've driven has serious clutch-judder on takeoff. It certainly can be exaggerated by bad engine mounts, but the problem appears to be inherent with the engines in my experience. New mounts won't cure it. Likewise characteristic of these baby diesels is snatch when on light throttle at low RPM in low gears; you'll get e jerk or kangaroo-hops if you simply press the throttle to speed up. It's necessary to slip the clutch when you use the diesel pedal at these times. Otherwise everyone watching will wonder either how long you've been driving or where you got your license or both.
