<<yah, but for all the money you put into the wasserboxer, you could of put in a 2.2 litre subaru motor! seriously, i have a 83 vanagon i just bought that is a basketcase= contemplating a motor swap- im not sure waht i want to do. 2.2 subaru, 1.9 vw turbo diesel,1.8 vw golf motor- i just dont know. i had a 85 that blew the head gaskets at 130k, kinda left a sour vw taste in my mouth, although i love my diesel rabbit!>>

Maybe, But I would have no bottom end power, Now I can go from 35 to 85+ in my fifth gear and go from 25 to 75 in fourth and 5 to 55 in third. With the ECU chip upgrade, the power will be more...

I do not have to worry about custom making my wiring harness, not fabricating engine mounts, worrying about when the used engine will blow, what custom made part will break where ever and who will make it. I do not have to live with vibrations AND exhaust droning at various RPMs. My engine is quiet at 85 mph BOTH engine and exhaust. I can listen to my CD player at normal levels, I can carry on a conversation with my wife WITHOUT yelling, my ears do not ring after a long drive. I can get ALL parts from the dealer or FLAPS, I do not have to have parts CUSTOM made and then worry about IF they will LAST. The dealer and FLAPS parts are designed by a TEAM of engineers and the custom parts WHO knows who designed them??? Someone that hopes they will last (have we not heard about exhaust problems, wiring problems and other problems?) I did not have to pay someone thousands of dollars to do the conversion installation Vs just assembling the engine with the custom parts and install it. (While I did the labor myself, others cannot and this will ADD UP.)

You can choose to do a conversion and open yourself to a can of worms of unknown trouble OR fix the few problems with WBX engine.

I choose to fix the few problems that has resulted in increased power, reliability and mileage, Your choice is up to you...
