In California, if you have insurance on your vehicle and drive someone else's vehicle, your insurance company has to cover you. In other words, the policy follows you. However, the "other" vehicle cannot be registered to anyone residing in your household.

Of course that "other " person cannot legally drive the vehicle in question unless They insure it.

The tricky part is registration renewal. You have to show proof of insurance when you renew.

I'd like to remain anonymous except for that damn email tag line.
