To put in my 2 cents here.....I just received a radio antenna and oil drain
plug gaskets from Bus Depot. They were delivered within three days to North
Carolina! I think that is pretty good service. All other parts I have
ordered from BD have arrived within a week, as stated in the catalog and on
Ron's website. I dunno what the problem is here, but I think BD's service is
excellent, as is the pricing. If y'all need parts quicker and don't care
what it costs, then why not go to a competitor? Ron isn't advertising that
you can get parts within three days.
With the good comes the irritation. My only complaint to Ron is that it
would be nice if your sales staff would tell us when ordering if some
particular part is in stock or not. When I ordered the rear hatch seal for
my '84 Wolfie, the order was taken online. The following day someone from
sales called my wife and said the part was outta stock, but that y'all could
send a better one from the factory in Germany and it would be shipped the
next day. The only thing was that it was double the cost of the original
order. My wife gave the okey-dokey for the extra cash outlay. Two weeks
later the part arrived and I was told by the salesperson when I checked on
the status of my order that the reason for the delay was that y'all were
waiting for the part to come in from Germany and it was the original part I
had ordered. The salesman said he didn't send the replacement (higher cost
part) and didn't know that I wanted the part as soon as possible. When I
first send my email order, I asked that it be sent as soon as possible,
because we have had more that the normal rain here in western NC this summer
and the Vanagon is leaking from the top of the rear hatch, but the heads
don't leak....yet! And I don't mind waiting a week to get my parts, but not
knowing if they are in stock or that someone is going to do what they say is
different. BTW, I have received everything I have ordered, so it is no big
deal; only thought that you'd wanna know, Ron. Hey, man, s**t happens.
Thanks, Ron for supporting the Vanagon whiners out here. I appreciate your
willingness to carry the stock you have on-hand and for getting us the parts
we so desperately need to keep our VWs on the road. What would we do if we
weren't pi**ing money into these wonderus machines? I think oughta go out
and change that oil, filter, radio antenna, air filter, and whatever else I
have bought from Bus Depot to keep me runnin'!
