As much as I loved the 13B in my GSL-SE RX7, I didn't consider a rotary in the loooong search for refitting my Syncro. The rotary is technically intriguing and has high power density, but IMO there's not enough low end to be fun in a 2+ ton van. Somehow wringing the bejeezus out of a Vanagon just doesn't have the same draw as doing it to a sports car. The 1.8T Audi inline 4 is a drop-in (well, physically :-) ), and offers similar power with much more low-end torque. ed |
