On my 83.5 the stove grate is secured by the frt & rear center legs that go thru holes in the stove top. Pull forward and up on the front leg and it should come loose and then it's easy to get the back one loose and remove the grate. Reinstall it by hooking the back leg in it's hole, pull forward on the frt leg and drop it in the hole. Hope this works for you.
