Check your Idle Stabilizer Valve.

Warm the engine, then shut it off. Disconnect the wire to the valve at the valve
itself. With engine still warm, start the engine, it should idle reasonably
smoothly. If not, you have another problem.

Check the idle at this time. Should be 900 rpm. If not, you may have to adjust
the idle. DO NOT try to adjust the idle with the idle stabilizer connected.

Now shut down again ( this clears the computer), reconnect and start up again.
Compare the performance. Any negative change.? Rough running, etc. Idle
stabilizer valve.

The valve is really intended to help on cold starts, and low idle but sometimes
they get a bit crotchety. You may have to lean it, or at worst, replace it. On
the 1.9L  WBX they are fairly cheap, but on the 2.1's they are a bit pricey.
