Subject: Death of a noble Wolfsburg--Need a new one?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Ya'll, please give me your advice-

On Sunday a hit and run driver sounded the death knell for my 87 Wolfsburg ed Vanagon. The steering column is now firmly lodged (in pieces) in the floor and frame, and the radiatior needs a resurrection. I am not mentioning that the air conditioner sacrificed itself to save my DH and I from dying in this head-on accident, so the van wouldn't have that anymore.

The seals already were burning a bit of oil and I was considering getting a new engine maybe in the spring. Just fixing the accident and making it drivable, would come to around $2000 (still with the leaky engine). Except for my emotional attachment, I can't think of why I would do anything other than try to find another.

I just had my 3rd baby and since my dh and I cant seem to figure out what is causing them I KNOW I need a car ASAP. I NEED the major seating capacity (and kid friendly seating arrangement) of my beautiful "weekender" package Wolfie.

What do you think, list friends, should I scrap it, or fix it? If scrapping it could I sell it for parts? What is the most honorable way to allow my Wolfie to die? In pieces or in peace?

If scrapping it I want the EXACT SAME CAR a Wolfsburg ed vanagon. Where will I find one?? I live in Allentown, PA. Willing to drive the country over to find another.

Is it time to go to a Eurovan? Where can I find a Wolfie like mine?? OH THE AAAAAAAGONY!!!!!

Thanks for your help Katie
