One way would be to simply cut a small "patch" of screen & glue it over the
torn area.  Or you could do what I did & replace the whole screen & upgrade
to no see 'em proof screen, if that's ever an issue for any of you.  If it
*is* you will want to upgrade!  I bought my very fine screen from Marin
Outdoors, but it is a stock item in many outdoor equipment outlets, such as
REI, etc.
        About a month back a listmember described the sewing process step by
step, so I won't repeat here.  Go to the archives, it's worth it if you plan
to do it.  It requires an hour or so of careful hand sewing with the pop top
up.  I did mine one afternoon at a the beach when highly motivated...
It's a very Zen activity.  Relax & enjoy it.
