John, To upgrade to a cluster with tach, you must relocate several wires to different terminals on the back of the cluster. You must _also_ run one wire for your tach, but I did not say that attaching one wire was all you needed to do to make it work. It's not difficult but it's more involved than just adding a wire for the tach. This is why I suggested looking the info up in the archives, since it has been covered on the list. However, if you can't find the info in the archives, I'd be happy to fax you a copy of an article in the Limbo newsletter, written by Boston Bob, that indicates the correct wiring.
