I've driven my friend's 85 GL with the 1.9 and my 87GL with a 2.1 and couldn't detect any significant difference in performance. Both are automatics. However, the 85 was totally rebuilt about 5,000 miles ago at 178,000 while my 87 has 146,000 miles and has never been rebuilt.

They each run very smoohtly and very slowly and I love both of them.

Mark Smith
