Slide the seat back as far as it will go and still allow you to swivel the seat. Then swivel it a full 180 degrees to face the rear. Now you can have a friend sit there and watch you take the battery out. The hardest part for me was the battery cable terminal gets in the way of pulling the battery out. I think that it's because the cable is too short - just long enough to connect to the battery.
