Subject:      Met another member!

Hi all! While attending the Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City last week, I was able to meet yet another list member. Not having ever met these folks personally I didn't know what to expect. This fellow Ken Wyatt and lady friend Chris are really neat people! Their house is situated right at the base of the Wasatch rang and they have a great view of Mt Olympus. They have an '82 that's easy on the eyes (for and air cooled I mean) <grin> They're going to Burning Man in a couple of weeks. Wish Sherrie and I could fly back out and go with them. For dinner Tuesday night we had a feast of fresh rainbow trout, some ricey kinda stuff (that neither Ken nor I took to really well but we had big appetites from the days activities so it didn't matter), and to top it off Dyers' vanilla bean ice cream (great stuff) with home canned peaches! Grandpa on HeeHaw would have been proud!

While I was there, he invited a friend over that had just bought an '85. He wanted the grand tour and basic look over to see if we veterans saw any glitches that might pop up on a 1500 mile journey he was taking in just two days. Weeellllll, it just so happens that Vinnie is an '85 and I was more than happy to core dump all the pertinent info pertaining h2o cooled 1.9's he could handle! I've been through just about everything one can imagine with this motor. You shoulda seen it. No sooner than Scott, his friend, pulled up Ken and I were tearing through his van inspecting all the nooks and crannies for potential trouble. When I thought how we must have looked I was amused. I like Vanagon people overall. Prolly don't hear of mini van people doing things like this.

Thank you very much, Ken and Chris, for a wonderful stay while in Salt Lake City!!!

Cheers, Dave C. Williamsburg, VA zzzzzzzzz__ |E[__] [__]|[_]\\ | _DC&SP | _ || * * * =-( )---------( )--= '85 GL Westy (His) '91 Cabriolet (Hers)
