Subject: opening the AFM - Howz it done?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Howdy all;

Over the weekend, I did my first engine modification ever to my '85 - by adding the "capacitor fix" as described in the archives.

However, someone else on this list mentioned opening the AFM and cleaning it with electronic contact cleaner, and/or resetting the position of the wiper arm to a less worn track.

My question is: How do you open the AFM? It looks like a sealed unit to me. Just to be clear, I'm looking at a box with a rounded left side, slightly above and slightly to the left of the box where the air cleaner lives. It has a 4 wire connector going into it. It appears to be attached to the aircleaner as well.

There appears to be a "glue seal" of sorts between the top of this AFM and the lower portion, similar to how the older hard drives were sealed.

Am I looking at the wrong thing? Or do I have to break the thing open and then re-seal it?

Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope!
