Stay away from Salim's Auto Repair, 1487 Queen E. I've had a lot of grief and great expense from him. Peter's Garage, 5 Robert St., gets reasonable reviews, and I've had him do a muffler for me, but you can't get in there (no parking), he won't make or keep appointments, he's not there half the time, and doesn't return messages.

I've had better luck with Peter's Volkswagen Service, 1142 Castlefield. Seems very honest and knowledgeable. For major mechanical work, Peter's VW sent me to Auto Shop, 26 Haas Rd., Rexdale. A pain to get to, but seems to know his stuff, and has a full fledged operation. He completely rebuilt my engine, and also does transmissions, etc.

They are all expensive, but not as bad as a dealer.
