Thanks to all who responded but I need a cheaper solution. Amtrak has a 50# maximum, Greyhound has a 100# max., and Yellow Freight only gives their special $100 engine rate to business-to-business customers. I maybe able to use a Mexican-USA bus line that goes from Albuquerque to LA for about $.35/lb but I don't think they were clear with what I wanted to do (no habla english). Any other advice appreciated.

Ken Hunter

Hi Ken,

Did you check with moving companies (Allied, Atlas, Mayflower and local ones)? It may take some persuasion to take an engine. Basically you need to find out when they have a shipment Alb. -> LA anyway and then presuade the driver to take your engine also.

Cheers, Martin

PS: If your main problem with normal truck freight is price you might argue that your block is not a complete engine (since head off, missing some stuff etc...) and ship it at the scrap metal rate. Problem is of course that they will only be responsible for it as if it was scrap metal.
