Warning - heavy anecdotal content to follow:

This has nothing to do with my VW or slick, but I tried a similar oil enhancement product (can't remember which - but it had this cool little plexi-box gear demo on the counter of local auto-parts store -- ok, call me a sucker! :-) on my 93 pathfinder, as it was getting up there in miles and I was starting to get a second or two of tick after starting (when the oil pressure was low).

Anyway.... After one treatment, it got noticibly worse, not better! I have subsequently had the engine flushed with a oil cleaner and have been running oil-only ever since. Unfortunately, the problem is still there, but has not got any worse. Coincident?

On a similar note, my Westy has just developed a constant tick! Guess its off to the archives...... My reference manual just cursorly covers lash adjustment.

Brian
