Welcome to the world of ASI ownership. First a question... Where are you? If in the PNW, check out wetwesties! Now some answers: Wiring diagram... I've never seen one. On the 'unofficial wetwesties page' <http://wetwesties.tripod.com> on the images page, there's a Westfalia diagram that will be similar. AFAIK, the reefer, the water pump and the fluorescent light are the only things hooked to the aux. battery. Drain plug... the one to the rear. Threads into the case, not into a cover like on the type 1 motors. Oil quantity... 3.5 qt. with filter change. Use Diesel Rabbit filters. Half again the capacity. Easier to remove for the next oil change. Motor oil... I use 20w-50 Havoline in the summer and 10w-40 Havoline in the winter. Dipstick... top is full. 1 pint between the marks. 1 PINT!!! Auto trans??? If so, Dexron or Dexron II. .35 qt. between the marks. But... there is a 'new' dipstick that has .24 qt between the marks and a cold fill mark right at the end. Old dipstick has a 1" x 3" tag on it. New dipstick says 'ATF DEXRON' on the cap that closes the fill tube. Refill capacity is 2.6 qt. Final drive... 90w hypoid oil to MIL L2105-B 1.3 qt. Exhaust... Dunno. Better look in your Bentley. (You DO have a Bentley, don't you?) Tyres... 185R-14 Reinforced. Michelin makes them, Continental makes them, Kumho makes them. The important thing is the load capacity. MUST be at least load range 'C'. 'D' is better. If there's a Costco in your area, their Kirkland LT195/75-14 is a cheap serviceable alternative. That's what I and many other WetWesties use. (Frugal Nor'westers!) Goto <http://vanagon.com> and poke around. There's GOT to be a FAQ about tires! Lastly, Propane tank. See your local propane dealer. ASI used a relatively standard Manchester tank. Jim Arnott WetWesties Union, OR |
