Tom,

Have you considered holding a "telethon" to raise money to support the listserve?

I understand Jerry Lewis has been quite successful at raising funds for the cause of Muscular Dystrophy research over the years.

Or maybe you could adopt the Public Television model of fund raising, which is to temporarily suspend the listserve while you and a team of volunteers man the phone lines and solicit donations and new membership. You could give out gifts for various levels of donations, like a "Vanagon.com" sticker for the $25 Level, a new coolant expansion tank at the $50 level, and a pair of Vanagon hatch struts at the $100 level, and so on. *** In all sincerity, I would like to contribute to the cause. If you provide an address, I will send you some money toward the upkeep and maintenance of Gerry.

BTW, I have been using PayPal to pay for other things over the net. I'll bet you could garner even more of a response if you were set up to accept money electronically.

Dan
